What are manufacturers Samples?

Designer Collections are not "cash and carry" and are not available in warehouses. Companies who manufacturer the type of designer collections we stock start to sell their goods to retailers months before they make them and they usually only make enough to fill the orders retailers make. To be able to take orders they have to have 'samples' of their designs. They usually make only one sample of each style for each agent (even though it may be available in more than one colour). For cost reasons they usually (but not always) make the samples up in the smallest size they sell and this is what the companies representatives or agents show to the retail buyers. All the samples are usually made in the same size but some companies will have ranges in various sizes so for cost reasons they (usually) make each range in the smallest size. For example: The Miniman La Petite Ourse is made from Newborn up to 24 months so they make the La Petite Ourse samples in the Newborn or one month size The Miniman baby collections are made from 3 months up to 36 months so they make these samples in the 3 or the 6 months size The Miniman Junior collections are made from 2 years up to 10 years so they make these samples in the 2 and 4 year sizes Toff Togs starts at 18 months to 12 years but they make the samples in the 3 year size and a few in the 6 year size. Togs Zone starts at 4 years to 16 years but they make the samples in the 6 year size. The Tickittyboo samples are also made in the 3/4 year size and these are a large fit. When the agent's 'selling season' is finished (and before the collections are delivered) some companies allow their agents to sell the samples at a discounted price to retailers, who usually pass on the saving to their customers. Some manufacturers samples are, quite honestly, not worth having so we only buy quality samples but please be aware that these samples have been used for selling from and a very few may be a little shop soiled (although this is very rare and in most cases, if we had not told you it was a sample you would probably not know). If a sample is slighly damaged in any way or is more than a little shop soiled then we will reduce these further or offer them to you at a greater discount. Samples are a great way of getting the latest seasons designer styles at a reduced price. The samples we sell at MischiefKids are usually reduced by at least 30%.
